What is the Eternal Data Project?

The Mission:

To preserve public access to our data, unaltered and uncensored, until the end of human civilization and beyond.

The Eternal Data Project:

The Eternal Data Project (EDP) will be a nonprofit charitable entity with 100% transparent operation. It will be designed to exist in perpetuity. Its sole mission will be to preserve public access to EDP data, unaltered and uncensored, forever.

The Details:

The Eternal Data Project will use the public blockchain Arweave to store all data. Data uploaded to Arweave is publicly accessible for more than 200 years and accessible through the internet. Arweave provides a cost-effective way to preserve information which can be accessed online, and a vibrant ecosystem which will keep it online for a long time to come. Arweave utilizes a pay-once type system which does not have the same issues of data loss of similar pay-as-you-go models.

EDP will also pursue further means of preserving and distributing our data, which will include creating time capsules filled with crystal, DNA, and other long-term data storage technologies.  We embrace redundancy as a key element of our data-loss-prevention strategy.

A key element of our plan is to partner with mission-aligned businesses to provide stability and funding for the Eternal Data Project.

Our first partner in the endeavor is Will Always Be Remembered, whose memorial websites will be preserved as part of our EDP archive. We are proud to provide friends and descendants of the deceased with an uncensored and easily accessible record of their loved ones and ancestors. We also feel this archive will be a valuable resource to future historians and researchers.
